CSL Plasma

CSL on state street is very unprofessional. I got there first thing to avoid the line do to having to work. I had to see the nurse before donation due to a small cut on my elbow. I go to sit and wait the to nurses stood talking for a little bit then continued to walk past me over and over then both go in the room with 1 other person and I sat for over 45 for them to look at a cut on my elbow. I have had this happen with the nurses here twice now. After reading reviews I agree the only reason this place is still going is because they prey on the brokest people to need this little money donations they don't appreciate the fact peoples time is valuable at all and some have jobs and just need a little extra money from time to time this is a horrible place and I won't be back...

As a first time donor it takes roughly 2 hours from the moment you walk in to the time it gets to the donor floor. The time includes watching a video, getting your profile started, seeing the nurse, getting vital checks, and answering the questionnaire. The following times are a little faster, but not by much, roughly 1.5 hours. On busy days the an extra 30-40 mins can be added. I've seen a lot of reviews that it is slow and I can definitely agree, however, personally it is something that doesn't bother me. Realistically with this kind of facility it's nothing to be surprised about, similar to how long it's be at the doctors office. So far, all the staff I have met have been kind and willing to make sure you feel comfortable. The extra cash is definitely nice, but also a nice thing to do overall. I am unsure if the donor prices vary month to month but there seems to be monthly promotions. For first time donors you can receive between $435-475 (based on weight) for the first 5 times you donate. Overall a good experience with nice staff, but plan accordingly when you come and check what hours they tend not to be busy ahead of time.

I had another review for this location, but I deleted it to write this one. I was waiting to see the nurse with two people ahead of me. A fourth person joined our group and tried bribing us to skip the line. I was not willing to be bribed (he offered a whole $1). He proceeded to pay the woman in front of me $5 to go in front of her and I called him out for ignoring me. I also reported him to the staff. He continued to be disrespectul to me and I made it clear it wasn't ok. When the nurse came out she told ME to leave. Why? My language. I cuss like a sailor, especially when upset. People swear at CSL all the time, including the staff. I didn't even know it was a concern. The only warnings I got were for volume. So the guy who steamrolled all over me got to stay while I had to sit in my car and wait for my partner. I'm NEVER going back. EDIT: For the record, I'd call and complain, but employees have already said the corporate number just goes back to the store. You will never see any change if you complain to management. One of the phlebotimists there (heavyset redhead) has completely given up - hurts when she sticks, walks away from beeping machines, and basically goes out of her way to do as little as possible. She's only nice to you if you're one of her buddies (as is the case with most of the workers). We've made multiple complaints, she still has a job, and her attitude has only gotten worse.

Generally a miserable experience. Slow no matter how many people are working (on average a 30-40 minute wait from getting in the door to being on the donor bed), chronically understaffed, some of the staff is surly. I've seen a staff member on her phone before (no phone calls are allowed on the donor floor). Saw this same employee respond to a donor with a problem by saying "ok" and walking away from him rather than helping or getting another staff member to help. CSL as a company sucks. They've gotten stingy with benefits and bonuses, as well as reducing the bonus pay to new donors and structuring the payouts in such a way as to punish you for not making both donations in a week. It used to pay 55/60, now pays 50/65. For perspective, CSL makes roughtly $5,000 per bottle of plasma. They could afford to do better by their workers and their customers. Anyway, I will likely keep coming here because I'm extremely poor and need the money. That's what CSL counts on. It doesn't care about or respect its donors.

Floor staff was excellent however my daughter was gender shamed for using "the wrong bathroom" in the medical area with 3 people present from the staff and told that she had to use the men's bathroom even though she has been on hormone therapy for almost 2 years now. Then was called back a second time to unnecessarily ask her why she was using a cane. So I guess gender and disability shaming are high on the priority list at this location.

Staff is always so friendly, fast, and efficient. Crissy has been a great help and amazing at what she does ever since my husband and I started donating here. She made me feel welcome from the get go. Also, Marcy and Frankie are wonderful at making everyone feel welcome and comfortable with their experience. The employees - every single one - are amazing at what they do, from the stick, to cleanliness, to just being friendly. I definitely recommend.
